1961 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe

In the 1960s as the Volkswagen car company was growing there was a distinct need for the company to produce a lightweight sports car for the masses. The Karmann was Volkswagen's answer to the flurry of sports coups being produced by competing companies such as MG and even Ford with its Mustang (although this was a much larger car). The Karmann was based off the VW Beetle chassis (widened by 300mm) and was VW's first attempt at a car of this nature.

This particular example was for sale at the start of May 2017 for $25,000 AUD on Ebay Australia. This is about the medium price you will see these go for and still represents great value as this car is in great mechanical and overall condition.
