This preserved example of the 66 Daytona Sports Sedan was offered during 2017 on craigslist, and later advertised throuugh bringatrailer.com. The best one we've seen yet (bar one located in Australia which was just as nice). Only 873 of these were built, and then Studebaker shut its doors! Check out the others on the 1966 Studebaker Daytona Sport Sedan Register, and the 1966 Studebaker Daytona Sport Sedan information guide.

From the bringatrailer.com advertisement:

"This 1966 Studebaker Daytona Sports Sedan was produced on January 11, 1966 and is an unrestored example believed to be one of the last 905 examples built at the Hamilton, Ontario plant. Power is sent from a 283ci V8 to the rear wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission. The car was acquired in 2013 by the current owner, who is reported to be its third. Records are said to span much of its 52-year history and document recent maintenance including a transmission rebuild, oil cooler, motor mounts, radiator, brake service, tune-up, and more. This Daytona is offered by a friend on behalf of its owner with original paperwork including a window sticker and sales contract as well as a clean Washington State title in the owner’s name.

The Midnight Black enamel paintwork is shown up close in several photos below along with the black vinyl roof, which is accented by a stainless steel trim strip at the base of the C-pillar. Styling changes for the 1966 model year included single headlights integrated with a revised grille, vented rear tail lamps, and new badging consisting of Hawk emblems, “Daytona” scripts, and engine capacity details.

Steel wheels wear correct hub caps and Mohawk whitewall tires at all four corners. Brakes have been recently serviced with fresh drums, hydraulic cylinders, and a small parts kit. New Monro-matic shock absorbers were fitted at the same time.

The cabin features Tahitian Red vinyl upholstery over an optional front bench seat and accented by matching door panels and black carpeting. Equipment includes a Climatizer heater, manual radio, and standard 3-gauge cluster.

Approximately 23k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, about 1000 of which have been added by the owner over the last five years.

The Canadian-built 283ci Thunderbolt V8 is said to have been originally specified with a 3-speed manual transmission, which was replaced by a Borg Warner Flightomatic 3-speed automatic prior to original delivery. Chrome valve covers replace the originals, which are also included in the sale. Maintenance performed within the past 500 miles included a transmission rebuild with a new torque converter and oil cooler as well as a radiator, motor mounts, belts, hoses, tune-up, and fluid service.

The original window sticker shows an MSRP of $2,902 as well as detailing factory options and specifications. Additional documentation includes the signed sale contract, letter of verification from the Studebaker Driver’s club, owner’s manual, accessory booklet, service notice, factory tags, and owner ID card.
