1967 Morris Mini Cooper S (MK1)

This Cooper S came up on Ebay in December 2016. This is a MK1 Australian Cooper S, which has been fitted with a MK2 Australian Cooper S engine. Most of the identifying features appear to be correct, however, a few small items are missing (such as the vinyl that should cover the top dash rail). The interior has at some point been re-done in an aftermarket fabric, and overall the car appears in reasonably good useable order, with only a few items needed to bring it back to original. The final selling price on the auction was $20,100 (AUD).

At the time of sale, the seller noted the following:

"I bought this on an offer I couldn't resist, but family commitments and travel requirements mean she deserves a better home. As I don't have a garage, leaving her on the street by the sea seems like a sin. Last minute travel plans also means this is unfortunately a short auction.

The photos form much of the description and I'm happy to send more if interested. The engine is equipped with a roaring Weber carb, but comes with the original twin SUs.

Of note to any interested buyers:

  • Longer speedo cable required if you plan on keeping the Weber
  • Clutch needs a bleed and rekit - I have the new slave cylinder seals if you want to fit them and drive away. She still drives well for a while after a bleed but air is getting in
  • Driver's side mirror needs new glass
  • Some paint and seal imperfections

Overall it's a fun amazing classic car, that these days seems to be a great investment

I'm happy to consider any offers in excessive of the starting price

Pickup and inspection in Cremorne Point, Sydney ON OR BEFORE DEC 26th"
