1973 Leyland Mini Clubman GT

This GT was advertised on Ebay in December 2016. It appears to have undergone a restoration at some point, in what we believe would have been its original Cadiz orange. Only 1200 of these Australian Clubman GTs were produced, making this a very rare offering. We now have few other Clubman GTs listed on Classic Register here. If you are interested in these cars, also have a look at the Clubman GT identification guide.

The GT ended up not reaching reserve, and passing in at $13,400. The auction ended on Christmas eve 2016, so perhaps would do better early in the new year if re-listed.

We have added some additional images to this cars profile (which were not in the advertisement) which we believe belong to the car. The earlier images of the car we had in our archives indicate that the vehicle originally came from Western Australia.

Update: The car was re-listed with a $10,000 AUD price, and bidding at the end of the aucton was at $15,000 - with the car passing again with reserve not met! We note that the car was also advertised on Gumtree during the second auction, asking $17,500, so perhaps the reserve sat around 16,000.

At the time of sale, the seller made the following comments:

"I am selling my much loved genuine Mini Gt Clubman. 1973 Model. she has been in good hands, plenty of work done and would definitely suit a mini enthusiast. This is a genuine sale and please genuine buyers only. i have a reserve on her. so please message me anytime if you would like to know more. plenty of spares and first to see will buy. plenty of grunt and power. just has a  dent on the right hand guard"

Selling My Genuine Origional Mini 1973 Model, GT Clubman 1275.

This is the factory colour but has been re sprayed a few years back.

I have had work done to her recently by a well known mini specialist, including the following:

-Brand new cv shafts, boots, tie rods, ball joints, complete new slotted disks with new pads"

-Brand new wheel cylinders on the back, new brake shoes and new wheel bearings on the front

-Full engine service including new oil, oil filter and fuel filter, new starter motor, new rocker cover and more

I have plenty of brand new spares with her and if it gets above the reserve i will throw in a set of 5 restore wheels theyre very rare factoy GT Wheels with new Falken rubbers all matching. as seen in the photos.

This is a great car, starts and goes first go , very fast, strong and powerful with a great sound to her, aswell has a sensible lumpy cam, and will suit a mini enthusiats whom will appreciate her look after her and see her as such a real collector car that will definetly go up more in value and hold her value.

She only has a dent on  the front guard , not too big and easy repair and also needs a few minor touch ups. there is hardly any rust in her, comes with alot of fidily spares here and there including new mirrors etc etc. the paint work is ok for her age if your not too fussed otherwise she would do good with a Nice buff down the line and or even a full re spray if you are thinking of going a full restoration one day as it would be worth it if you are going to keep her for long term."
