1973 Leyland Mini Clubman GT

I have finally decided to sell my last Mini, an original Mini Clubman GT - I have owned it for around 21 years.

It is a 12/72 built car (car 1390) first registered in very early 1973 – possibly March, and was sold by Fiebiger Motors, Angaston South Australia.

It has the 1206 series 1275 solid tappet chest motor – motor is the original.

The previous owner had the same motor professionally reconditioned (long motor)and installed on 10/02/1992.

The previous owner also had the car body minor rust repaired and then resprayed in its original colour Crystal White and the Tan (chestnut) interior is still original.

Years ago I fitted new stripes back onto the car – I had the GT side emblems remade from some of the last 3M foil stock in Australia, printed in the correct PMS red and with a petrol proof coating.

I also sourced a set of original wheels and centres, which are now on the car - the correct centre caps are with it, carefully stored in the door pockets.

I believe the car is original in all respects and things like the original radio and other spares have been kept with it.

The car was registered as a 1973 White Morris Sedan and was one of the last GT’s delivered.

The car was last fully registered in 1998 and has been in storage since about 2005.

The car has had three (3) previous owners prior to my purchasing it in 1996 from the third owner.

The car has now been off the road and in storage for around twelve (12) years and has not been started or run for around ten (10) years.

When last driven it ran and handled as a GT should.

Of course the car now requires brake and clutch hydraulic replacement/overhaul and the motor needs to be fed pressure oil and started up in the usual way as per starting an engine that has sat for so long.

The hydrolastic suspension is down on the passenger side and it always did have a slow leak on that side – but pumped up fine when required. No doubt the hydrolastic may now need attention or at the least the leak should be found and repaired.

All in all, this is a lovely original unmolested vehicle with most of its history and everything intact – but will of course need complete refurbishment/restoration before going back on the road.

I emphasise that this car is not driveable or running and should be treated as a "Barn find" - please don't expect to bring along a battery and drive it away. The original type XZX Michelin tyres that are fitted will also need upgrading for safety reasons or be kept for show purposes only. This description is given to the best of my knowledge and the car is sold with no warranty implied or given.

This is a car for an enthusiast who will give it a sympathetic refurbishment/restoration.

Settlement is by Bank cheque/ Cash or Bank deposit only and payment in full is required within three (3) days from the end of the auction.
