1988 Volkswagen Golf MK1 GTI

The GTI Golf Cabriolet is very rare variation of the GTI that was sold in Europe and Canada from 1980 to 1993 (earlier years for the mk1). This model shared the same drive train as other GTIs that featured the 1.6L inline 4 cylinder mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The biggest difference from an engineering standpoint besides the lack of roof was the reinforced chassis that was introduced because of the lack of structural stability that usually was provided by the roof.

These cars are an icon of german hatchback design in the 70s and 80s and was for sale at the end of June 2017 for only $6500 AUD an absolute bargain for a piece of motoring history. This example is actually in great condition for the price, the paint has faired well for its age and the interior and other exterior elements have been taken care of as well. this is reflected in the photographs.
