This exceptionally original MKII Crown coupe was spotted here on Gumtree Australia, asking $10,500 (AUD). The seller claims the car was sitting in a garage for 25 years before it was brought back on the road in 2016, making this car a true time capsule suitable for a collector.

The MK2 was introduced by Toyota to provide a competitor in the larger luxury car segment, where it had limited presence in markets such as the US and Australia at the time. It's unsure how many of these are still on the road, but we'd expect only a handful in Australia, with an estimate of only a few thousand still getting about in the US. The MK2 was available as a sedan, wagon or coupe, and was originally fitted with a 105hp 2.3l 6-cylinder engine, with the option of a 4-speed manual, 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic.

This example is fitted with a manual transmission of the 4-speed variety. There are a couple of issues such as the faded paint and dashboard cracks, but most importantly the seller confirms there is very minimal rust. The seats (which we suspect are vinyl rather than leather as noted by the seller) are in quite good condition. A major service was undertaken by the seller to get this car back on the road in 2016, including clutch work and necessary reconditioning and replacement of certain items. Given the originality, we think this car represents excellent value to the classic Japanese enthusiast, and don't think it will last too long at $10,500.
