Interesting story with this one spotted for sale in Sydney Australia in Oct 2025: The seller at the time noted that this is one of the 15 Prototype XJC's built in 1973 before development stopped to concentrate on the 4 door cars launch. This 4.2 litre Manual overdrive car is LHD chassis number 1 and overall body number 3. The front door glasses are date marked 1972 and it has covered a recorded 47,000 miles from new. Originally built in LHD for Continental testing it was then converted by Jaguar to RHD and used by Mr Pindar, head of the Service Department before being sold to John Coombs. The car requires a full body and mechanical restoration but the interior is complete and in good condition. Over the years I have accumulated a large number of spare parts including a near full set of chrome, genuine sills, bootlid and front guards. The Series 2 launch brochure features a LHD Green Sand Manual car and I believe this to be that car
