This classic 1972 Hydroplane is of the Wickens design from the USA, and was built in Australia by the famous Sydney race boat builder, Bert Everingham.

The boat is believed to have been originally fitted with a Jaguar V12, and competed in the Hawkesbury River Bridge to Bridge race where it went by the name “Super Cat”. The boat was retired some decades ago after putting a conrod through its block during a race, and was then kept out at Oberon NSW, before finding its way to the former owner in Western Australia, who began dismantling it for restoration.

The current owner purchased the boat in an incomplete state approximately 6 years ago, and had the boat (with its original trailer) transported back to Sydney. The boat and its trailer underwent a full restoration with a professional hydroplane specialist boat builder in Wisemans Ferry, NSW.

The boat is now fitted with a fully rebuilt Chev 440ci V8, and has been tastefully restored with custom finishes and body work based on Hydroplane designs of the 1970s. The boat is in immaculate condition and has hardly seen use since its restoration, and has been kept undercover in storage.

This would suit a serious race boat enthusiast looking for something that can be used for weekend runs or possibly competition (subject to class regulations). The trailer has been refurbished and has hydraulic tilt lift, registered until 27 October 2019. The boat itself is not currently registered.
