Another Australian Ssangyong Chairman added to the register. This one was advertised on carsales.com.au asking $9,000 AUD in December 2021. It has just under 60,000 km on the clock - we've seen a few examples with unbelievably low ks for the age come up over the last couple of years. I presume this is because they were generally bought by elderly people? See the original advertisement here.
The seller in the original advertisement made the following comments: "This luxury limousine could be a collectors item in years to come. Only 100 of these were imported into Australia, in the early 2000's. SsangYong thought they could pitch these cars against the luxury Ford Fairlanes and Holden Statesmans. But it did not work. They were used to chauffeur politicians around in South Korea. It even has a fold down table in the back seat. Ssang Yong had strong connections with Mercedes Benz at the time. Hence many Mercedes parts were in these cars. Including the Engine and Transmission. I am only the second owner. It has always been garaged. Hence its Mint Condition. It currently has 59500 k's (at the time of this ad). I am regretfully selling this car as I am downsizing. And i will have nowhere to garage this car. This car has lots of electrics (all working) and luxury features that were ahead of its time . Such as.... - 16" alloy wheels - Cruise control - Rear parking sensors - Front cup holders - 10 speakers Sound System - Climate control air conditioning -Electric seats -6 CD Stacker -electric sunroof -Illuminated door kickplates"
