This 998LS was advertised on carsguide.com.au during 2016, and added to the register. We note that the chassis number prefix originally placed with the listing was 021x251m, which we do not believe has been correctly read/interpreted by the seller. The correct chassis code, which we assume applies to this car, is 022X2S4M09. The car appears to have had some fresh paint at some point in its life, and the interior has clearly been replaced with standard Leyland Mini interior (normally, the LS should be fitted with a blue spotted fabric). At the time the car was offered, the seller made the folloring comments:
"Leyland mini 77 .This is a genuine LS they were only made from 77 to 78 and is one of the hardest to find it it is basically there luxury package many people get standard minis and just stamp a LS badge, its easy to spot from the dash and parcel trays in back seat also was first to come with cassette player. If your not a mini guy please do some research on this car before contacting me. The guy who owned it before me used to race it but had different engine.so klm on cluster is not accurate. I have put original engine back in and rebuilt it with its own original parts exhaust, 2 fuel tanks with control valve electrical cut off switch Whole car has been rewired with new fuses added new stereo.
Push button electronic start ignition so starts first go every go. I was turning this from a weekend toy and people who play with old cars there not good for everyday drives unless they have been completely rebuilt from scratch into something reliable ,clean and still makes people stop and ask you about it. interior few rips in roof but seats and doors are near perfect as you can see from pics lots of time has been spent on this"
