1980 Ford Escort MK2 RS2000 Sedan

Advertised on trademe.co.nz in April 2018, this 4-door RS2000 is an Australian built example that's proved a popular export. At the time of sale, this one was asking $20,000 - quite a bit considering the condition, but a very rare car in NZ.

At the time of sale, the vendor noted the following:

Engine:
2L cortina engine that was rebuilt back in 1999 by West Auckland Engine Reconditioners.
Regularly serviced with all receipts dated back 20+ years ago.
Franklin high lift cam with adjustable cam gear (see photo for details).
Single Weber carburetor unsure of size.

Modifications:
Aftermarket exhaust
Lowered in the rear
4 speed quick shift gear box
Drop tank
Fuel cap behind number plate

Interior:
Standard escort seats (not genuine rs2000)
Genuine rears that need re-covering
Factory RS dash race steering wheel that needs replacing as is bent and damaged from someone trying to steal it before we bought it
Sun damage on dash which has caused it to crack

Exterior:
Painted 3-5 years ago
Stored in the garage since we've owned it
Rust is coming through on boot lid and left rear quarter again

Car is in pretty good condition for its age. It has been owned by my mum for the last 20 years and literally has only been driven to the shops and back.

I now own this vehicle. I sent it in to have a bit of rust work done but has quickly escalated into a full build. Alot of poorly done rust "repair" all over the vehicle. Floor, boot, firewall, rear quarters, a pillars, only good bit is the roof and parcel shelf. Gonna be a long process.
