This is an extremely rare variant of the 560 SEL (the SEL +L) and is known as Mercedes Benz Carat by Duchatelet, a ultra luxury limousine model. There are believed to only be 17 of this particular model in the world. Like the regular SELs it is noticeable by the (large for the time) 17 inch wide dish alloy wheels and the 5.6L V8 mated to a 4 speed automatic gearbox. This car was the symbol of class and style back in the 1980s when it was released.

Obviously a car of this nature would be well maintained and this particular example is no exception to the rule with great condition paint, interior and only 36,000 kms on the clock this car has been kept in show room condition! at the creation of this register this car was for sale in New Zealand for $35,000 AUD. A great price for something that was well in excess of $150,000 in todays money when new.
