This pristine example of an RS Cosworth was found for sale by dealer Luxus & Veloce in Portugal, with only 38,000km and an asking price of 26,000 Euros. The seller confirms the car has been in the same family all its life, and has always been Portuguese registered. The paint is all original, and as seen in the images the entire car appears in near-new condition.
These Sierra RS Cosworth sedans (named Sapphire RS Cosworth in the UK) were produced in rear wheel drive format from 1988 - 1989, before the 4X4 version was introduced in 1990. The performance figures are impressive, with the 0-100 sprint in just over 6 seconds (according to several sources), and a top speed of 150mph. This certainly puts the cars close to many of the competing Group-A road cars of the time. Production numbers are relatively low by mass production standards at 13,140 - certainly rare enough to make these cars desirable, but common enough to have a strong community following and reasonable parts availability.
At 26,000 EUR, it's not the cheapest one out there, but cars in this sort of condition can be hard to find.
