1989 Ford Falcon EA Prototype

A very interesting car spotted on Lloyds Auctions: This is a prototype XR8 developed by Autotek as a pre-production test car (used as a Momo Pace Car). The following information about this care was extracted from the original advertisement on Lloyds (see the original ad here: https://www.lloydsonline.com.au/LotDetails.aspx?smode=0&aid=27859&lid=3282643)

"This superb pre-production prototype (ID plates attached), was a symbolic and iconic workhorse which was as much about flash as it was about function.

This is the EA Momo Pace Car by Autotek. This started life as a genuine EA V8 Manual (Engine code Z and K Code trans) which in itself is cool as it marked the return of the Ford V8 into Australia, but it was used as a prototype/development mule for the EB XR8 which was launched in July 1991 to officially mark the return for the 302 that would run until 2002 in Australia. As you can see this is a March 1991 EA making it very unique.

Put through its early paces by Ford, it was time to start its life with Australia's premier automotive importer and distributor, Roman Autotek where it took pride of place as a promotional centerpiece fitted with a stunning phase 8 body kit and emblazoned in its MOMO livery which it proudly still displays today.

A true snapshot of that 1990s dream prototype that every teen would've had on their wall.

As times and body shapes changes and the new EF falcon nipping at the heels of the earlier 1990s falcon models, the decision was made to promote this show piece to a fully operational pace car, often seen all over NSW being chased down by ever popular truck series at the time.

Truly one of a kind with thought, precision and engineering initiative developed in every stage of the build, inside and out from the phase 8 body kit turning heads at every occasion to the intricate detailing in the retrimmed MOMO interior.

From front to back, this car features;
• 5 Speed manual transmission
• Eye catching phase 8 body kit
• Fully retrimmed MOMO leather interior
• Functioning light bar, siren and intermittent flashing high-beam.
• Twin side exhaust
• Speedline 17inch magnesium wheels.
