This car was built at the Freemont, CA plant and rolled off the line in Willow Green with a Fawn interior. She stayed in CA for most of her life, coming east in the early 2000's. The previous owner did a ground up, total restoration on her, however, he did source an engine, a 327 V8, from a 65 Vette and built it a bit. It has an HF suffix which denotes it as a 300HP engine, however, the previous owner told the current owner he had it dyno'd at 350 HP.
The car was completely pulled apart and pretty much everything was touched.
The previous owner brought the car out to shows locally and at one of them, he ended up selling the car to the current owner. That was 8 years ago. The current owner has only taken her out a few times to local shows, so although the odometer shows 96K miles, this car has less than 5000 miles on her since the restoration was completed about 10 years ago. Aside from the aforementioned engine, the car has power steering, power brakes (disc F, drums R) and power windows. The current owner installed a Flaming River tilt wheel, steering column and rod all the way to the box and had the column painted in the same Fawn gold. He also installed an L79 intake, radiator/shroud and a 4bbl Holley carb.
The wheel and tire combo were on the car when they purchased it and consist of MB Motorsports 17" aluminum wheels and Falken Ziex ZE512 245/45/17 tires.
As a California car she is completely rust free and looks absolutely beautiful.
There are those that say a number 1 car is perfect, my opinion is that there are no perfect cars, I can always find something, despite how small. My opinion is that a #1 car is not necessarily perfect but is one of the best. This car is in my opinion a #1 car. There is one very small mark on the hood and two very small blemishes on the the top of the right front fender and another on the right rear most rocker.
She starts right up, she tends to idle a bit high and the owner is going to have that adjusted, she runs very strong, drives well, everything works as it should.
In preparation for the sale, all fluids were changed, full tune up performed, upper gaskets replaced, fuel filter and air filter.
This car is 100% ready to go and is one of the best 65 El Camino's you're going to find.
Asking price is $38,500 and is rather firm.
