For sale: 1970 MGB Roadster

1970 MGB Roadster - 1 family owned since new. Back in 1970 the current owner's brother bought this bright red (Flamenco Red) MGB Roadster, in MD. By 1980, the brother was moving on to a new car and sold the car to the current owner, his brother. He has cared for it and maintained it very well since then.

The current owner is a stickler for details and doesn't like things that aren't "just right", so the car has been pulled apart and painted twice in her lifetime, the last time just a few years ago. He also loves performance, so this car has a bit of that.

The original 1800 was rebuilt by British engine guru Kiwi Engineering's Greg Hunt and is a little beefier than stock and is armed with an aluma-coted Long Beach header flowing into a 2" exhaust and exiting through a Magnaflow muffler, that is routed over the axle. The dual 1.75 SU carbs were also tuned by Greg and they are attached to a polished intake, being fed by K&N air filters. The power, substantially better than the 96HP she originally came with, is funneled out through the stock 4 speed manual transmission, with overdrive to the rebuilt rear end. A C&R aluminum radiator keeps the little 4 cylinder nice and cool.

In essence, this car is like new, although the odometer shows 77,000 miles there is much less than that on the car as she currently sits.

The interior is largely original, including the original dash, seats, full tonneau cover, door cards.

The carpet is new and the soft top is new-ish, not original but not as new as most of the parts on the car. There are some blemishes on the originals seats. The JVC stereo (with bluetooth and Pandora) is powered by Kenwood and Proton amps, etc and your ears are given the goods by a Q-Logic subwoofer tucked into the floor of the passenger side and 4 Infinity Kappa speakers.

The entire underside has been fully cleaned and painted, the original lever shocks have been rebuilt, the stock disc brakes in front and drums out back bring her to a halt.

BFGoodrich Traction T/A 185/65/R14's keep the B stuck to the road.

She starts right up with just a little choke and the electronic ignition and comes to a solid, steady idle shortly thereafter.

On the road she drives like a British sports car that's only 6" off the ground should. The steering is tight, the brakes firm and stop the car easily. The throaty exhaust to me, is better music than what the JVC puts out.

The owner does have the original radiator and original 1.5 carbs.

Everything about this car is top notch.

Easily a show winner, although not concourse correct, stunningly beautiful.

She's just not getting driven enough and the owner feels it's for her to find a new home.

She can come to your garage for just $22,000

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to inspect her in person, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for the interest.
