You don't come across too many of the early Golf GTis in right-hand-drive markets, but this 1980 MKI is now up for sale up the northern end of the south island of NZ. RHD GTis were only introduced the year before, and were built in relatively low numbers for those markets they were introduced to - most notably the UK. As a point of reference, for the UK market in 1979, they only built around 1500 cars. 1980 would have surely seen that number increase, but it gives you some perspective on the rarity of this early factory RHD example.  

This particular example has been owned by a GTi enthusiast, and presents in immaculate condition for its age inside and out, and has a respectable 232,750km on the clock. That's low for its age, but respectable enough to be realistic.
