1971 Austin 1300 GT

These 1300 GTs are extremely rare now - this one spotted on Ebay UK in Austin form. I don't think these GTs came to Australia, but we did get the Leyland 1100S with the 1275 motor. Like the 1100S, I suspect these 1300 GTs were all parted out by mini owners who were seeking the 1275 engine upgrade - making these rarer than rare today.

I do like the look of the 1300 GT: the collapsed hydrolastic suspension gives it a sporty look, and finished in red it looks a bit cooler than an average British sedan of the time.. Those standard BMC GT badges also look great on the C pillar (and although its not shown, they do have a nice steering wheel too)..

This rough but complete example was asking $6,000 GBP in November 2022. Needs a bit of work but it's all there. See the original listing here.
