1972 Leyland Mini Clubman

This is an early Leyland Mini Clubman, converted into a Clubman GT with a 1275cc engine and several other performance modifications. Originally from Australia, this car now lives on the other side of the world in Malta. The current owner notes that there were around 8 Australian Minis in Malta at one stage, which were believed to have been brought to the country after a group of Australian-Maltese migrants moved back to Malta, and brought the cars over in containers with them.

Built at the same time as the Clubman GT, these early Clubmans have several unique features, including unique interior trims, side Leyland badges, and were originally fitted with an 1100cc engine as standard. The current owner notes that this particular Clubman has been fitted with a 1275cc MG Metro engine, and has received several other performance upgrades. The owner has the original 1100cc engine which has been kept safe and put aside. Originally Crystal White, the car has been painted black.

If anyone has further information on this car, or others in Europe, please get in touch with us. We know of one other Australian Mini in the UK, and would love to hear of any others around the world.
