1974 Datsun 180B SSS Coupe

Spotted this gem in February 2021 asking for offers over $6,000 AUD.It is an auto, but these opportunities are rare, and the 180B SSS will soon be as difficult to get as the C210 Skyline. Looks to be complete, but expect the usual significant rust which would require a $10K budget to repair properly.  In the advertisement the seller noted "all original complete car, motor good, needs minor attention, starter moter/solenoid, ignition barrel, some rust."

Melodee Keays's picture

I (Melodee Keays) owned a Orange 1974 Datsun 180B SSS Coupe from new in1974 until I sold it in 1990. The original motor had approx 368,000kms on the clock when it need some work doing to it, my machanic talked me into buying a replacement motor from Japan in C1986 for about $320. That motor had done 40,000kms when it was installed in my car, I drove it for another 184,000kms till I sold the car in 1990. I paid somewhere around $3,200? for it and sold it for $600 it had some rust but considering it had spent two thirds of the approx 550,000kms on rough dirt roads and driving in mud I think it did a wonderful job. I even used it to tow my double horse float from Mildura to Nyah West and back for a horse show.
