For sale: 1950 Chrevrolet Deluxe Coupe

sold

In November 1962, Willy plunked down some of his hard earned cash for a 6 cyl. black Chevy Deluxe. Being the owner of a garage/service station, he went to modifying it to run the 1/4 mile. He did this by raising the front a bit, dropped in a 409ci V8 and T10 4 speed, pulled out the passenger seat and went for a rip. The engine had through fender headers with cut outs to feed the exhaust back into a dual system and open headers for the strip. One of the time slips we found, from Dover Raceway in NY, shows a 13.83 second run at 102 mph. This was his baby, as seen all shined up in one of the photos above.

He drove the car in any good weather and truly enjoyed this car. When his garage suffered a small fire, he moved the car to his home garage where it was going to go through a complete restoration. By then, the car was running a 1965 396/325, which is still in the car now.

We all know where the story goes from here unfortunately. Life gets in the way and things get put aside.. in this case put up on the lift. He got the interior stripped down and that was about it.. leaving one seat so he could move it. Further unfortunate is that a few years ago Willy passed away and never got to finish the car.

Although slightly scarred with some surface rust, the all steel body is rot free, the floors are great as is the frame (aside from surface rust). The aforementioned big block and T-10 are still there as is the 1956 Chevy, Posi rear end. There are a lot of trim pieces that go with the car. I could not get the engine to turn by hand, maybe some Marvel Mystery and time will free her up. The odometer shows just shy of 40K miles, the tires still hold air and she rolls, the 4 wheel drums are not frozen.

Would you get her running and driving, cleaned up and take her down the strip like Willy did, or would you give her a full resto? The family is asking $6500 for this solid 50 Chevy, with an even better story. Any questions, for many more photos, to schedule a time to see her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
