1964 Studebaker Daytona Convertible

Don't think we've got this one on the register yet! Looks great and love the light coloured interior. This is a 259ci engined convertible - one of only 702 built.. Bidding was strong at near 15K USD with over 4 days to go when added - spotted on ebay USA in July 2021. Advertised by Classic Auto Mall in PA - they always get their hands on interesting Studebakers. Classic Auto Mall made the following comments about the car at the time of sale:

Exterior
This convertible version is looking all spiffed up in beautiful blue and showing no rust on the straight steel panels minding their gaps. From the front bumper, to the angled inward front egg crate grille in chrome, flanked by dual headlights, to the trim spear on the beltline, and the arrow style tail lights with another mirror like bumper below, all chrome is excellent. Windows are all trimmed with chrome, and glass is clear as the day it rolled off the factory floor. The white convertible top is new according to the consigner, and the rear plastic is perfectly clear. Standard 15-inch wheels and thin whites complete the package.

Interior
Swing the door and we are stepping back in time with faux stitched tan vinyl in square and tuck and roll pattern, along with some shiny thin trim to break it all up for your eye and vertical tuck and roll for the bottoms of these doors. Slipping inside, we are in near showroom condition heaven, with more tan vinyl split front bench vertical tuck and roll for the seats and square for the backs. Original tan padded topped dash with a black face for the instrument cluster which is a lineup of 4 round gauges. Fronting this dash is a spiffy white and blue steering wheel that matches the exterior. A tan bench in the same pattern is stretching across the back, and a tan tonneau covering buttons up the look for the interior. Black carpeting floods the floors. I'll let you in on a secret, the interior is all new! Also, for the passenger a vanity mirror is available in the glovebox so your seat cover can check her bouffant under the bandanna when the top is down.

Drivetrain
A nice clean 259ci V8 providing 180 horses, is within a newly cleaned and painted engine bay. Slight rust is noted on the intake manifold but is minor. A single two-barrel carburetor sits atop, and a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive is behind the 8 banger. Yellow valve covers and all supple rubber hoses are also looking groovy.

Undercarriage
Underneath looks great with little surface rust, solid frame, solid floor pans, and solid rockers...solid! Gracefully aged overall, and independent coil springs upfront, and leaf springs for the rear, as well as front and rear drum brakes.

There are now 18 Daytona convertibles on our little register here :)
