This Antelope Beige MKIII Cooper S was advertised by Richard Williams Classic Minis - see the original advertisement here. Not sure exactly when it was advertised, but the site confirms the car ,sold for GBP 27,495.. Looks to have undergone a thorough and correct restoration - which apparently occurred in 2013.
In the original advertisement the seller made the following comments on the vehicle:
1971 Austin Mini MK 3 1275 Cooper S In rare Antilope Beige with contrasting black interior. Rare original high back reclining front seats in great condition. This Cooper S was owned by a doctor back in the late 1980’s. He brought it in for some work and the garage owner bought the car from him and gave him a lift home! It then joined his collection of minis which is where it was parked until 2013 when it was brought out and restored from the ground up. It then went back into his collection and is now on the market for the first time in around 35 years. It has had a total of 6 owners in the last 50 years. During the restoration it had new floors from front to back, new sills, boot flooring and new front wings. Although the past owner is sure the body shell is original to the car the factory fittings for the right hand petrol tank are missing which makes me question this. The body is a pre 1973 body, so of the correct age for the car and the front diagonal strengthening bar is present. The front panel body number is also correct for this model. It was converted back to dry suspension instead of hydro elastic and now has adjustable dampers and adjustable hight. All of the running gear and brakes are refurbished and it is immaculate underneath. The interior is mainly original other than the carpets which are new. On the road it feels very smooth and refined to drive. It pulls very well through the gears and the gears select in a nice positive way. The brakes are strong and the road holding is fun and rewarding. It starts easily and runs well with steady oil pressure. It is one of the most refined Cooper S minis that I have driven. It has 5 new Falken tyres on its original Cooper S steel wheels including the spare. I have taken some pictures of the underside to show the high level of detail the quality of the workmanship. This is a very unique and different Cooper S in a rare colour combination.
