There's something interesting about finding such an original LS in such bad condition... All there still, but so much rust to deal with. I just bought this 2004 R53 Cooper S - John Cooper Works (JCW) special! The JCW cars had a revised head, re-mapped ECU, higher performance spark plugs, and a few other unique features, which made the first series cars good for 200hp. The size makes it plenty of fun to drive, and the supercharger gives it that authentic wyning noise from the gearbox. Lots of fun, and not a lot of fork to do with...

Cheap example on Grays Online, seen in April 2024 - asking $2,500 no reserve. Looks fairly original and not too shabby for the Ks. These were exceptionally popular little spotrts hatches in Australia in the early 00s, and punched 110kw from a N/A 2.0l engine in a small package. I do love the white/blue colour combo!

This popped up on Ebay Australia in April 2024 - bids near to 10K for a shell that it very rotten. These do bring a fortune now when restored, but there's probably a good $20,000 of rust repairs required to this car. A few bits missing on this 240K, but you don't have many others to choose from in the market at the moment!

This well looked after ST170 was spotted on FB Marketplace in May 2024, asking $7,300. Values are fairly low for these, and I think they'd make a fun buy. Non-turbo - so not outrageous performance, but a lot of fun and this Duratec engine has a great reputation.. Bargain if you can get this a bit closer to 5k..
